Services and Projects for European Institutions
For more than 20 years it has been one of FIZ Karlsruhe's tasks to analyze and disseminate scientific information on heat pumps. The most important activities were the operation of the Heat Pump Centre of the International Energy Agency IEA (1982-89) and the Government-funded project Informationszentrum Wärmepumpen und Kältetechnik (1990-99).
Today the focus is on the information transfer between the German energy market and European players in this sector. Main topics are energy efficiency, renewable energies, and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, with special emphasis on heat pump technology.
Key activities are:
- Operation of the information platform European Heat Pump Network (EHPN)
- Providing services to international institutions, e.g. acting as a webmaster for the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA)
- Participation in various EU projects, e.g. Intelligent Energy Europe: “Reaching the Kyoto targets by means of a wide introduction of ground coupled heat pumps (GCHP) in the built environment” GROUND-REACH
- Close co-operation with the most important market partners in Germany, e.g.Bundesverband Wärmepumpe e.V. (BWP)
- Support of information and marketing activities on federal and state level
- Development and marketing of databases and electronic information packages
