What's New in patent information on STN

Get up-to-date on the latest from STN. Learn about what’s new, including the new Publication number/Kind code (PNK) field, DWPI product enhancements, and the ReaxysFile available on STN.

Welcome to “The Field of Dreams” – The Revolutionary PCTFULL on STN

PCTFULL was rebuilt from the ground up using advanced OCR technology to maximize the accuracy of the text as well as the FIELDing of the data. FIZ Karlsruhe has revolutionized full-text patent searching in this database by extracting numeric properties from the full text to provide 35 separately FIELDed, range-searchable numeric properties.

The new, exciting capabilities of PCTFULL on STN will be illustrated via a case study on polymerization catalysts, which will also include other relevant databases on STN, including “The Big Three” – CAplus, DWPI and INPAFAMDB.

Searching Formulations on STN

This session highlights different tools available on STN to efficiently search for pharmaceutical formulations (galenics). The techniques described make use of

  • The CA Lexicon
  • DWPI chemical fragmentation codes
  • Patent classifications
  • in combination with structure searching, in order to retrieve novel formulations of a known compound.

The Big Three on STN – CAplus, DWPI, and INPAFAMDB

STN is the only database vendor that has these three patent-family, value-added databases on one platform. Search examples will demonstrate the unique content and advantages of CAplus, DWPI and INPAFAMDB. The TRANSFER and DUPLICATE commands will be explained and used to broaden and/or narrow the search results and to combine the most relevant answer sets.

Using STN to retrieve information on Biosimilars

Biosimilars, often referred to as follow-on biologics, are substances similar to the original product used to treat diseases, such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, and diabetes. In this session, you will learn to use STN Index and thesauri, plus name and sequence searches.
