2. CHANGES TO DERWENT CPI SUBSCRIBER INDEXING IN 1999
Derwent has been working on the creation of new structure-searchable indexing (DCR). With the introduction of DCR in 1999, some minor parts of the legacy indexing will be superseded. Some current indexing codes will, therefore, be discontinued. The discontinued codes fall into the categories:
The changes are described in the May/June isssue of STNews in detail. Note, that the indexing backfile of these discontinued codes remains in place, i.e. the changes only affect ongoing DWPI (WPIDS) records, and discontinuation of S, T, U and V Chemical Fragmentation Codes involves the introduction of a new fragmentation control code (M905).

The REGISTRY file is now being updated on a daily basis. Enter NEWS FILE for information on the 12 most recent updates. Automatic current-awareness searches will continue to be run biweekly.
You'll want to check out the enhanced REGISTRY counter at:

The updated list of substances on the EC Dangerous Substances Classification, Packaging, and Labeling list (as amended by Directive 98/98/EC and published in the Official Journal of the European Communities) is now available. The EECDS field, used to indicate that a substance is on the list, also contains any supplemental information that is relevant for labeling requirements. See HELP ECNOTA, HELP RISK, and HELP SAFETY for details.
The list of 1999 National Pollutant Inventory (NPRI) substances as defined in the Canada Gazette, Part I, April 24, 1999, is now available. This information can be found in the CANL field for those substances on the inventory. See HELP CANL for more information.
5. CANCERLIT AND TOXLINE RELOADED
These files have been reloaded to reflect the annual MeSH changes made by the National Library of Medicine for 1999.
The Database Summary Sheet is available on the Web on our Database List.
A new Food Science and Technology cluster has been created including these files:
AGRICOLA FROSTI
BIOSIS FSTA
CAPLUS JICST-EPLUS
CABA PROMT
FOMAD NTIS
FOREGE SCISEARCH
AIDSLINE, BIOSIS, CA and CAPLUS files, EMBASE, LMEDLINE, MEDLINE - all of these files index GENBANK numbers. A feature has been added that allows you to SELECT GENBANK. The numbers are selected and these E-numbers are then searchable in REGISTRY, to retrieve the REGISTRY record with the substance information on these compounds.
See the Database Summary Sheets on the Web on our Database List.
The first author, publication year, volume, and first page with a truncation symbol appended is extracted from GEOREF answers. /RE is appended to the terms created by SELECT. This creates E-numbers that you can then search as citations in SciSearch.
See the Database Summary Sheet on the Web on our Database List.
FTN is scheduled to be removed from STN. The content will be included in SIGLE. The SIGLE revised Database Summary Sheet will be available after the release.
FOMAD has been added to these clusters:
AGRICULTURE ENVIRONMENT
ALLBIB FOOD
AUTHORS HEALTH
BIOSCIENCE TOXICOLOGY
BUSINESS
