Workgroups
Now each of your organization's project teams can have customized access to powerful STN databases from your Intranet!
The new Workgroups feature allows you, the STN Easy for Intranets Site Administrator to create separate Workgroup pages tailored for specific project teams or user groups who need customized access to STN Easy databases.
Workgroup Pages offer:
All of the features that are customizable for the full Intranets site, e.g., color, font, existing and custom database categories, links, preferences, etc., are available for customization for an individual Workgroup.
In addition, Alert Results, Posted Results, Defined Searches, and Saved Search Terms for Recall, as well as access to CA SelectsTM on the WebSM subscriptions, can be designated for use by one or more Workgroups, instead of the full Intranets user environment.

As STN Easy for Intranets Site Administrator, you control the creation, content, and capability for each Workgroups page, which includes:
- Individual, customized page setup for every Workgroup
- Selected STN Easy database categories, or customized database categories, tailored to the specific needs of each Workgroup
- Preferences for search modes, e.g., Advanced Search, CAS Number Search, and Patent Lookup
- Customized logos, text/body colors, and Welcome text to maintain the group's identity
- Password-protection for each Workgroup page, if needed
- Workgroup charge back codes to track search costs for each group
- Unique current-awareness alerts and Posted Results for each Workgroup
- Individual Defined Searches and Saved Searches for Recall for each Workgroup
STN Easy for Intranets Workgroups are easy to set up.
No programming is necessary!
After logging on to STN Easy, open the Setup Assistant on the navigation frame, then select New Workgroup under Workgroups on the navigation frame. The Setup Assistant will guide you through the easy setup procedure to provide Workgroup capability to your research teams from your own intranet!
Note: Before any workgroup pages may be set up, your STN Easy for Intranets page has to be set up and activated first.
Workgroup pages are accessed via a link from the STN Easy for Intranets navigation frame and can optionally be password protected.
